Here we are, Nintendo Force fans, once again at the end of a subscription cycle! This is the time of year when we launch our new fundraising campaign to keep NF Magazine coming to you. But rather than make a third Kickstarter campaign, this time around we’re moving things over to Patreon! The link is: Patreon.com/NintendoForce Patreon’s similar to Kickstarter in many ways – you sign up to support a project, pick a pledge tier, etc. But it’s better suited to ongoing projects like NF Magazine. We’ve had to break subscriptions into one-year blocks to fit the fundraising model here on Kickstarter – which was fine if you jumped on board early in the year while the campaigns were active, but confusing for any newcomers who came along later. Patreon also lets you do things like change your address directly – Kickstarter’s never allowed that, which has been a bit of a headache for anyone who’s moved to a new place […]

Hey there, Nintendo Force fans! Though our reviews are normally hosted only within the pages of each magazine issue, we’re breaking away from the norm to present our full review of Splatoon as a special look inside the new Issue #15! If you aren’t already a subscriber, click over to the NF Store to rectify that situation! (You’ll get a snazzy double-sided Splatoon poster along with Issue #15, too.) I THINK I’M addicted to ink. I can’t sleep at night (because I keep staying up later and later, playing multiplayer matches). My mind is stuck in rewind (“If only I had turned around and looked behind me, I would have splatted him before he got me!”). I’m far too seriously concerned about how an overweight cat will evaluate my “vibe” on any given day (“Am I SO HAWT!! today, Judd?”). It’s an addiction. And if you’re smart, you’ll make it yours too. Nintendo has put a lot of marketing muscle […]

The time has finally arrived! Our all-new Kickstarter campaign has been launched right here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/910078610/nf-magazine-2015-renewals-and-new-subscriptions That campaign page is where you’ll renew your subscription to NF Magazine for 2015. Or, if you’ve never subscribed before, it’s also the place where you can sign up for the very first time! I think we’ve done some snazzy work with our campaign video this time around, so make sure you click and watch it as your first order of business. Then pick your pledge tier and kick back and relax, confident that you’ve secured yourself another year’s worth of great NF issues!

When it was first revealed, Hyrule Warriors didn’t excite me as much as I’d hoped it would. I generally like the Dynasty Warriors games and their spin-offs, but this crossover just seemed to lack substance. As time progressed and more was shown of this title, though, my excitement grew – and it all came together for me at E3 2014, where I finally got to go hands-on with it for the first time. It was fast-paced! It was exciting! And, most of all, it was simply a blast to play. Now, I just poured several hours into the final version of Hyrule Warriors, and I’m here to offer up to you all an extended look exclusively here on NFMagazine.com. The first thing that I noticed about Hyrule Warriors was its cutscenes. While they’re not voiced (in typical The Legend of Zelda fashion), they are downright beautiful to look at. The opening scene shows a sleeping Zelda struggling through a nightmare, […]

The Nintendo Force is proud to present our all-new ninth issue of NF Magazine, Issue #9: Where Have All the Fathers Gone? It concerns itself with all things Dad – from a central feature focusing on the odd lack of fathers in Nintendo’s franchises to a featured Interview with Matt Bozon of WayForward and his kids at the same time, from the reflections of our own Brett Martin on what it’s like to raise two boys in his world record-holding museum of Nintendo memorabilia to a wide array of special Father’s Day-themed Comic Breaks. As a father to two boys myself, putting this issue together has been a special privilege. So please enjoy reading it! Bonus! This issue comes with a double-sided, “flippable” cover representing both sides of the conflict in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, letting you pick your preferred pointer finger. On one side, you’ll get the puzzle-solving digit wielded by the good Professor Hershel Layton, while the other […]

It’s that time again! We’re seeking your letters for possible publication in our next issue of NF Magazine. As always, you’ve welcome to write in and ask us about any topic you want – but we’re specifically on the lookout this time for your predictions about what you think Nintendo will announce at this year’s E3. What new games will we see? What new Smash characters will be confirmed? How many time will Mr. Iwata make the “Direct” gesture over the course of three days? Share your thoughts with us, and they could end up printed in our next issue! You can use the Get in Touch box at the bottom of this page, send us an email, post a comment on our Facebook page or tweet us @NintendoForce to achieve a successful letter-send to the NF Inbox. It’s versatile like that. And remember that subscriptions are still going strong! It’s not too late to get in on the ground […]

Our latest issue, #8 – The Road to Mario Kart 8, has been available for a few weeks now. It should have made it into the mailboxes of all of our subscribers by now! But if there are any of you out there who haven’t yet joined the Force with a Year 2 subscription (or if you’re just interesting in this issue individually), it’s long overdue that we gave you a Look Inside! The Look Inside page for Issue #8 is now live! You’ll get the usual array of page previews and a bit of insight into the production process that went into making it a reality. And you can order a copy by clicking here! A Twitter user just posted this morning that they were surprised to see how cheap the price was for a printed copy. It’s true! The days of having to pay $18-$20 per issue for print-on-demand individual issues orders are being phased out, as we’re […]

It’s been over five weeks since we first made Year 2 subscriptions available through our NF Magazine Year 2 Subscriptions Kickstarter campaign. That campaign has since succeeded! And there are still 10 days remaining to continue adding to its total and hit stretch goals to further enhance our next year of issues. If you haven’t yet jumped in there, you’ve still got time to do so! Many of our Year 1 subscribers have requested a non-Kickstarter option to use to be able to renew their subscriptions for Year 2, though – and some of our fans out there simply aren’t able to use Kickstarter’s site, for whatever reason. Well, we’re happy to now announce that Year 2 subscriptions to NF Magazine have now gone on sale in our normal website shop too! Visit the NF Store to place your order and get yourself on the list for our next year’s worth of issues! So you now have two options for […]

We’re approaching the four-week mark since the launch of NF Magazine’s Year 2 Subscriptions Kickstarter campaign, and the funding goal is just a stone’s throw from being hit – as of this writing, we need only $1,100 more to have Year 2 of NF Magazine be fully funded! It’s very possible that we’ll hit the target very soon, and after that we’ll declare victory and fully shift gears into a pursuit of our stretch goals with our remaining weeks. For today’s regular Monday update, it’s time to add another pledge tier that should be of interest to a particular set of our fans out there – the artists! The Nintendo fandom is full of incredibly talented illustrators, sculptors, painters and more, and we’ve done our best to celebrate that critical part of our community by highlighting original art in the pages of NF Magazine. Our chief showcase for art is on our Comic Break pages – brief, one-page breaks in the […]
